Homestead Protection in Florida

Coleman Law Firm

Attorney Jeffrey P. Coleman answers a common question about homestead and how you can protect your home from creditors.
Video Transcript: In Florida, your house, that is the home that you’ve lived in, is fairly well protected under Florida law. The way to protect it is to make sure you pay your real estate taxes, that you pay for service providers that come to your home, such as contractors, because they can get a thing called a mechanic’s lien that could endanger your homestead, and also, of course, to make sure that you pay your mortgage. If you take care of these three avenues your homestead will largely be protected under Florida law.
