Attorney Jeffrey P. Coleman explains the definition and duties of an executor (now known as a personal representative).
Video Transcript:
In Florida we no longer use the term ‘executor’. The legislature has decided that the word personal representative is the identity of the person who will be appointed by the court. That job will include marshalling (or bringing together of the assets), a determination of the creditors, filing final tax returns, a determination and distribution to the beneficiaries, and anything else that basically may need to be accomplished as a result of the death of an individual.
