About Connie E. McCarthy
Juris Doctorate (J.D.)
Ms. McCarthy’s interest in the legal career began while she was still in high school. It quickly became her passion and she pursued her dreams. Ms. McCarthy attended the University of South Florida and received two Bachelor’s Degrees – Criminology and Political Science in 2015.
Upon graduation, Ms. McCarthy worked at the Hillsborough State Attorney’s office as a legal secretary before she attended law school. She knew then that she wanted to practice law and be inside the courtroom one day fighting for our justice system.
Ms. McCarthy graduated from Barry University School of Law where she received her Juris Doctorate. While attending law school, Ms. McCarthy was a Certified Legal Intern with the Juvenile Defense Clinic, where she provided in-court advocacy as a defense attorney. She returned to the Hillsborough State Attorney’s office during her first summer of law school to complete 130 pro bono hours in one month where she assisted seven trial attorneys. Ms. McCarthy was known as “Ms. Barry” due to all the organizations she ran on campus and was involved in during her law school career. She worked for Career Services and Student Life. She was the Editor-in-Chief of the Environmental and Earth Law Journal and became a published author.
Ms. McCarthy has developed a desire to serve our country. She served as a Paralegal Specialist at Fort Jackson in South Carolina during one of her summers in law school. Ms. McCarthy was selected with an 8% chance to join the United States Army JAG Corps in August of 2020.
